Living With Chronic Illness

A day of calm, conscious reflection on living more easily with chronic illness through natural breath, conscious awareness, constructive rest, chant and other gentle activities.

Glenstal Abbey, Murroe, Co Limerick.
Saturday 9th February, 2019. 9am to 4.30pm

The onset of serious, chronic illness makes unprecedented demands on us. We have to come to terms with a stark diagnosis, initial and ongoing treatments and the beginnings of recuperation. The ordinary and everyday now take place under radically different circumstances.

Many of us adopt a strategy of “getting on with it”. While helping us to push through, this strategy can leave us with very little time for ourselves. We can find ourselves becoming increasingly stressed and drained which takes from our potential to heal.

This workshop is designed to help you create calm and peace in your mind and body and not detract from getting better. You will develop skills to counteract the effects of stress. These include the skills of natural breathing, awareness, conscious rest and chant.

You will leave with a renewed appreciation for the power natural breath and rest in health and healing. You will have a greater ability to harness these skills for well being and calm when the stresses and strains of every day life and chronic illness collide.

Fee €125, includes workshop, materials, lunch, teas and coffees.
